Batch, seal and serial number: what each code on the box shows and how to check it

What a batch code and a serial number each identify, how to check the seal and the code on the verification page or by WhatsApp, and what to keep as a record of the box.

Checking a box means comparing what is printed and sealed on it with the manufacturer's record, and keeping evidence of what you saw. It helps to know what each code identifies.

Batch and unit: what each code identifies

The batch code points to the production run that a box belongs to. Every box from the same run shares that code, so it ties the box to the batch documentation, such as the certificate of analysis published on the lab reports page, but it cannot tell one unit from another.

The serial number, where there is one, belongs to a single unit. If the box carries a scratch seal, that number stays covered until someone uncovers it.

The seal and the code printed on the box

The security seal is the physical part of the check: it should be whole and in place. A seal that is broken, shifted or already scratched before you open the box is a reason to stop and ask before going any further. The verification code is printed on the box and can also be read from the QR code it carries.

Checking, step by step

  1. Look at the seal. Whole, in place, with no sign that the box was opened and closed again.
  2. Note the codes. Batch, expiry and, if there is a scratch seal, the serial number, uncovered with care.
  3. Open the verification page. Type the code into the field and carry on to the manufacturer's official page.
  4. Or send it by WhatsApp. The same page has a WhatsApp button: send the code and we will reply.
  5. Compare the result with the box. If anything does not match, stop and get in touch before using the product.

Keeping a record

A good record tends to matter more later than at the moment. It is worth keeping:

  • a photo of the batch number and the expiry, taken before the box is put away;
  • a photo of the intact seal and of the screen showing the result of the check;
  • the receipt or proof of purchase from whoever sold it;
  • the storage conditions: where the box was kept and at what temperature. The VLS retatrutide pen is kept at 2 to 8 °C, so it is worth noting whether it stayed cold from arrival to the refrigerator.

If a question comes up later, get in touch and send those photos.
